Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has announced a partnership with Omny, the personal radio app launched in Australia at the end of last year.
Creating a personalised radio experience Clive Dickens, director of digital and innovation at SCA, says Omny is not in competition with music streaming service, Songl, launched by SCA and Digital Music Distribution (DMD) early last year.
“Songl is about your perfect playlist and favourite music, whereas Omny is more than music,” Dickens said.
“We tried to create a radio-like experience by bringing together more than your favourite music. So effectively [Omny] brings in your shows, favourite personalities, the weather that’s relevant to you, all of your favourite content and allows it to connect to whatever music service you have connected to it.
“You could be listening to Fifi and Dave in Melbourne or Hamish and Andy with your music rather than the music we play on the radio.”
Andrew Armstrong OMNY Co-founder and CTO also added: "Partnering with Southern Cross Austereo lets us accelerate our vision to improve the way people enjoy radio.
"Now Omny users can include the best radio content in their personal radio station alongside streamed music from their chosen provider and personal social updates.”
