SCA Integrates Radio Stations With Sonos

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has become the first Australian radio company to integrate its stations directly onto Sonos’ smart speaker platform.

Sonos listeners can now listen to the Hit and Triple M live radio stations or catch up on their favourite shows by adding the Hit Network and Triple M apps directly to their Sonos systems.

The Hit Network app gives access to all Hit stations in the network, including 2Day, Fox, and SEA on the Gold Coast and Central Coast, plus all the other Hit stations across the country.

Listeners can also access SCA’s Hit digital channels: Buddha Hits, Old Skool Hits and Easy Hits.

The Triple M app gives listeners access to all Triple M stations in the network, plus Mix 94.5 in Perth, 4TO 102.3 in Townsville, KOFM 102.9 in Newcastle, 2GO 107.7 on the Central Coast.

Triple M listeners can also get the Triple M digital stations: Triple M Classic Rock, Triple M Greatest Hits, Triple M Modern and Triple M Country.

This announcement follows on from SCA’s recent announcements that Hit Network and Triple M news and sports briefings would become available on the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa suite of connected speaker products.

SCA’s chief creative officer, Guy Dobson, said: “We’re delighted to bring our radio content directly to the Sonos platform.

“As a leader in the smart speaker market, they are a natural fit as SCA looks to make our content available on all platforms and products that our listeners want to use to listen to the radio.”

Sonos’ country director for Australia, Rennie Addabo, said: “At Sonos, we are all about turning silent homes into soulful ones, so we’re thrilled this partnership gives Australian Sonos owners the choice to listen to their favourite radio stations out loud, in any room in their house, through their Sonos system.

“Radio lovers can now use their Sonos Controller (their Sonos app) to switch over to any SCA radio station they want to listen to – so, country in the bedroom or classic rock in the kitchen – it’s now all at their fingertips, adding even more variety to Sonos’ wide range of streaming services.”
