Indigenous television channel NITV has announced the appointment of Cieron Cody (pictured above) as its new commissioning editor.
Cody joins the SBS-owned channel with over 10 years’ experience in the film industry and community sector, having previously worked at Screen Queensland as manager and acting director of development, and vice president of development and production.
NITV channel manager Tanya Orman said Cody brings with him a strong track record in development and production across all genres.
“He will be joining a vibrant and committed team at NITV as we continue engage the nation in an in-depth conversation with indigenous Australia,” she said.
Cody said he was “beyond thrilled” to be joining NITV.
“As NITV has entered its tenth year, it has achieved exceptional momentum and success. There’s much to love,” he said.
“As a Wiradjuri man, it’s with immense pride that I can go deeper into community to celebrate and support the revealing of distinct traditions and the evolving diversity of experience for Australia’s First Nations and Torres Strait Island people – people of rich insight, incredible talent and compelling voices.”
Cody will commence his role at NITV on Monday 20 February.
