Sam Armytage Tells Karl The Today Show Is “Second Rate”

Sunrise host Sam Armytage has called Karl Stefanovic’s Today Show “second rate” and claimed she had “never watched it” during an on-air phone call.

The call took place on Fitzy and Wippa’s breakfast show which is currently being recorded in London as the radio team cover the upcoming Royal Wedding, along with Stefanovic and Armytage.

During the call, Stefanovic introduces himself as “Karlos… Karl… you might know me from such shows as the Today show Australia.”

To which Armytage replies, “I’ve never watched it, heard it’s a bit second rate.”

Stefanovic quickly responded, “It is a bit second rate, just not in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne… I’m only joking.”

Stefanovic then goes on to ask Armytage if she and the other Aussie hosts and presenters in London should have a get together at his penthouse apartment, given there’s so many of them in the city.

“I have run into Sam and Edwina… I can’t stand them, I can’t stand looking at them,” Stefanovic laughs.

After joking around for some time, Stefanovic finally says, “I want it on the record that there’s no drama between us.”

He then goes on to joke about The Daily Mail’s coverage of their apparent feud, as well as New Idea and Womens’ Day.

Check out the video of the call here:

The rivalry between the two hosts has been an ongoing media sensation, with Stefanovic’s now infamous Uber phone call only making matters worse.
