Rolling Stones Lips Too Racy For London Underground

Legendary rockers the Rolling Stones are having an exhibition in London and to advertise the gallery the band created bright, colourful posters with the famous tongue and lips logo wagging from a women’s crotch.

However, the ad was deemed too lewd for commuters of the London Underground and a less racy version has been requested. The band has been left “dumbfounded” by the decision.

The poster was reportedly designed by British designer Mark Norton, with help from Rolling Stone band members Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts, according to UK publication The Guardian.

And while they may have thought the poster alright for public transport, Exterion Media – the company that regulates ads on the underground – and outdoor company Clear Channel said the current poster couldn’t run in its original form – the lips, created by designer John Pasche, needed to be moved away from the groin area and up to the belly button.

A spokesperson for the Rolling Stones reportedly told The Guardian: “We are dumbfounded and perplexed at this rather silly decision. Perhaps something to do with the fact that it’s the Rolling Stones and controversy still seems to follow them everywhere.”

The Exhibition at London’s Saatchi Gallery will feature a massive comprehensive insight into the band.
