Reports: Ten’s New Bachelor Set For $200K Pay Day

It clearly pays to be desperate and dateless on national TV with news out today that the bachelor in this year’s The Bachelor is set for a tidy $200,000 pay day.

Last Thursday, Ten announced 29-year-old  Matty Johnson as its 2017 bachelor. Johnson, who goes by the moniker Matty J, works in marketing and is a “part time model” and is familiar with the show’s format having been runner-up on The Bachelorette in 2016.

Johnson’s pay day follows news that the average contestant on Ten’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is reeling in $30,000 a week in appearance fees. Although, as B&T reported this morning, former contestant Tom Arnold’s deal was more like $540,000 and he and the network appear headed for court over the disputed sum.

According to a report on The Daily Telegraph, last year’s bachelor, Richie Strahan, went home with a measly $10,000 for his appearance on a show said to take as much as six months to film. However, spare a thought for the female contestants who reportedly get $90 a day appearance money, a broken heart and a fair swag of public humiliation, too.
