Reports: Seven Axes Dave Hughes After Tim Worner Logies Gag

Comic Dave Hughes believes he’s been culled from an upcoming TV show on the Seven network because of a slightly off-colour joke he made about company CEO, Tim Worner, at the Logies a fortnight ago.

Hughes opened the Logies by prodding fun at Tim Worner and his now infamous affair with former staffer Amber Harrison.

Hughes said to a shocked Logies audience: “She is up for two shows. She is up for Channel Nine’s Love Child and Channel Seven’s The Wrong Girl. Oh, Channel Ten, sorry. No, sorry. Channel Ten, sorry. Channel Seven were working on a pilot of The Wrong Girl, that was starring their CEO Tim Worner, and … That was more a reality show.”

Now Hughes claims the gag has cost him a spot on Seven’s upcoming weekend panel show Behave Yourself! after the show’s producers abruptly told him he was no longer required.

“It’s a new panel comedy show, they took me off, they decided they wouldn’t have me on, they obviously can’t take a joke,” he told Sydney’s The Daily Telegraph. “I think Channel Seven should get a sense of humour, basically.”

However, Seven has denied the claim, suggesting it was all a misunderstanding.

“This looks like the production company and Dave’s management got their wires crossed when trying to work out Dave’s availabilities. We’ve been trying to get Dave on Channel 7 for years, and that door remains wide open. He’s welcome here anytime his schedule is clear (in fact we’ll put the kettle on),” a Seven spokesperson told News.com.au.
