Reporter Hilariously Interviews “Smartest Man Alive” During Hurricane Irma

As any news journalist knows, stopping random members of the public in the street for an impromptu vox pop isn’t without its dangers. Most interviewees proving slightly dumb, ill-informed or typically embarrassing.

However, that certainly wasn’t the case when a Fox News reporter stopped a random bloke on Miami Beach to garner his thoughts on Hurricane Irma that’s presently battering the Florida coastline.

Rather than any monosyllabic grunt, the gentleman gives a precise, erudite and highly intelligent precis of the unfolding weather events (check it out below), leading some on social media to call him the smartest man alive.

It’s believed the unidentified man must be a pilot or sailor such is his knowledge of the movements and patterns of destructive hurricanes.

“We’ve very relieved to discover that as we speak the eye of the storm is practically south of us by 220 miles because it’s crossing the 80th meridian,” the interviewee declares, “which is 80 degrees west longitude, so I’m not so worried because it’s so far away and it’s bearing as of 8pm.”
