Recording Reveals How Channel 7 Reporter Was Sacked After Sexual Harrassment Complaint

Former Channel 7 reporter Amy Taeuber is back in the media spotlight, with a leaked audio recording revealing how the TV network treated her after she complained of sexual harassment by a senior male producer.

Tauber settled the public spat with the Seven Network out of court in February, after claiming she had been unfairly dismissed by her former employers.

Taeuber – one of three identical triplets working at the station – claimed she and sister Sophie were sacked in July last year after lodging a complaint to Seven that Today Tonight journalist Rodney Lohse had called her a “lesbian”.

Soon after lodging the complaint, it became apparent that Seven was investigating Taeuber, initially over a page that contained satirical memes about one of the network’s reality programs which was run by her sister Kate, according to ABC News.

Following this, Taeuber was then called into a meeting with Seven over bullying allegations against her involving another cadet reporter at the network who didn’t file a complaint.

The audio recording, which was played on ABC’s 7.30 last night, features Seven’s HR manager telling Taeuber she was suspended and under investigation, and denying her the chance to have a support person in the room.

“I don’t really deserve any of this for standing up and having a problem with someone calling me a lesbian,” Taeuber can be heard telling the HR manager.

“This is disgusting. I’ve done nothing wrong. I’ve not done any of this and I’m requesting to have the statement of the person who made these allegations.

“I am being bullied in this workplace and you guys are doing nothing, and you guys are in on this bullying now because this is just absurd.”

Seven’s HR manager then can be heard telling Taeuber she would have to hand over her phone and ID on her way out, and warns not to touch her computer.
