Queensland Family To “Vigorously” Pursue Nine For Defamation After Success Against Alan Jones

They may have just won their defamation case against Macquarie Media’s Alan Jones, 2GB and 4BC, but a Queensland family is not done yet.

Brothers Denis, John, Neill and Joe Wagner are now going after Nine for defamation over a 60 Minutes segment on the Grantham deaths in 2015, with court-ordered mediation set to happen between the two parties in the coming weeks, according to The Australian.

This of course follows 2GB, 4BC and Alan Jones being ordered to pay $3.75 million in damages for “extremely serious” defamatory allegations against the Wagner family in a series of broadcasts during 2014 and 2015.

The Wagner family is also taking defamation action against former journalist Heather Brown, who accompanied Jones in attacking the brothers on-air.

Denis Wagner told The Australian that it he and his brothers intended to pursue Nine and Brown for defamation “promptly and vigorously”.

Nine declined to comment when contacted by B&T.
