PRIA’s Marjorie Anderson Receives Order Of Australia

The Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) is delighted with news that another PRIA senior member is to receive an Order of Australia.

Marjorie Anderson was confirmed in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, for significant service to the public relations and marketing sectors to professional associations, and to education and training.

“Since the announcement of my Order of Australia Award, the messages of congratulations I have received from friends and colleagues from around Australia have made me reflect on what the PRIA has achieved over the years. It has helped me appreciate the opportunity I have had to be involved with so many dedicated people who have each made their own significant contributions in providing a solid platform for public relations practice,” she said.

“When I returned to Australia in the ‘80s after working in the USA, I became involved in the PRIA to gain an understanding of the ‘local market’. I had no expectation my commitment to the PRIA would become so great or continue over such a long period!

“My advice to anyone interested in pursuing a professional career is to become actively involved in your professional body. You will benefit greatly from what you will learn, and from the friendships you will make with like-minded colleagues. Most importantly, you will gain an invaluable understanding of the market-place you work in.”

Founder and chair of the Professional Public Relations (PPR) Peter Lazar, said, “I salute her for all she has done for the Profession – and she continues today actively leading the PRIA College of Fellows. We can all be proud of Marjorie, a true professional who has ‘given back’ to our Institute and to the Australian community for more years than anyone can remember.”
