The licence for the New Zealand editions of New Idea, that’s life! and Girlfriend will revert to Pacific Magazines from current publisher New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) from 30 September 2015, both companies announced today.

Pacific Magazines is committed to the New Zealand market and maintaining local knowledge and editorial content as these titles transition back to Pacific management.

Pacific Magazines CEO, Peter Zavecz said: “New Zealand is a vitally important market for Pacific Magazines, our brands remain strong there and we are carefully examining our options to continue to publish locally. I want to thank NZME for their solid partnership and the NZME staff for their hard work and dedication representing our brands. We will continue to discuss options with the staff in the coming weeks.”

NZME chief operating officer, Phil Eustace said that he was pleased the magazines were likely to continue to be published in New Zealand and he paid tribute to the team of 25 who work on the magazines.

“Everyone has worked tirelessly to publish quality content, they are a dedicated and talented group and we wish them well. It has been a great partnership and Pacific Magazines have been excellent business partners, which we are very grateful for,” he said.

NZME staff were informed about the changes today and will continue discussions with Pacific Magazines.
