Origin Opener Becomes The Most Watched Show Of 2017 Pulling 2.35 Million Viewers

Last night’s ding-dong State Of Origin opener proved a ratings bonanza for Nine pulling in 2.35 million viewers according to over night OzTam figures.

The opening match, won by NSW 28-4, is now the most watched program of 2017.

However, numbers were down 13 per cent on last year’s opener which managed 2.708 million.

In Sydney, 989,000 viewers tuned in for the game, followed by Brisbane with 808,000 and Melbourne’s 319,000.

The game saw Nine score a whopping 45.2 per cent audience share for the night. Seven could only manage 21.8 per cent, Ten 15.2 per cent, ABC 12.9 per cent and SBS 4.8 per cent.
