oOh!Media Announces Finalists For Its Million Dollar Pitch Contest!

Out of home company, oOh!media, has announced the five finalists in the oOh! Million Dollar Pitch contest.

oOh! chief executive officer and chairman of the judging panel, Brendon Cook, said more than 100 entries were received from professionals working in media, creative agencies and their clients.

“The quality of the entries was outstanding with a very high level of creativity, passion and in many cases purpose. We had entries from media, not-for-profits and clients from across Australia. The selection process was much more difficult than we anticipated,” Cook said.

The five finalists will now select two others to join their team and pitch on behalf of a client or charity of their choice for the million dollar prize. oOh! will fly the five teams of three to Sydney on October 8 to pitch to a panel of judges made up of industry leaders and oOh!’s CEO, Brendon Cook.

The winning team and Pitch Masters of Australia will be announced on 9 October. The finalists (In alphabetical order) are:

  • Jesse Desjardins from Tourism Australia, NSW
  • Nick Ikonomou from BCM, QLD
  • Michael Jilwan, Senior Partnership Manager at UM, NSW
  • Mia Klitsas, Co-founder Moxie Products, VIC
  • Chad Mackenzie, Creative Director, Grey Sydney

Following are some comments from the selection panel:

Michael Jilwan of UM in Sydney – The self-proclaimed Middle East Beast delivered a very creative, self-deprecating and wide-ranging pitch like a Master. His mum will be proud.

Mia of Moxie – This entry was selected due to its clever use of different scenes to make a powerful point and a creative script that engaged our selection panel and got them thinking.

Chad Mackenzie of Grey Sydney – Chad presented on a topic, which emerged as a theme in Stage One. His video pitch entry made a direct appeal with clear, focused and emotive delivery.

Nick Ikonomou of BCM – Nick was one of the few agency representatives to pitch his own business. This pitch hit high notes in terms of its creativity using of iconic and current news items to draw the viewer in to a clever reveal.

Jesse Desjardins of Tourism Australia – Jesse’s entry did a great job of bringing a big idea to life and connecting with the viewer. The delivery was simple yet high impact, which made it a clear stand out for the selection panel.

Cook added: “This has already been a really exciting project for everyone at oOh! We’re thrilled to be entering stage two with five great finalists. We’ll continue to share updates from the campaign, including the stage two pitches, which will be recorded and viewable on the Million Dollar Pitch website.”
