With the launch of the Kyle and Jackie O show this morning on KIIS 106.5 as well as the 2014 return to air of the Jonesy and Amanda breakfast show on WSFM, ARN’s CEO Ciaran Davis believes the broadcaster will take out number one and two in Sydney Breakfast Radio by the end of the year.

Speaking to a gathering of the ARN advertisers and media this morning at the company’s North Ryde studios, Davis said ARN will spend around $2 million on a new Sydney-based campaign to promote the new KIIS brand.

Davis, who has been with ARN since January 2010, has worked in the radio industry in 11 countries and has been involved in five re-brands or re-launches such as the KIIS rebrand.

After their first breakfast show Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson, known as Kyle and Jackie O, took to the stage saying the first show went well and was made even sweeter for Sandilands as he only had to travel eight minutes to get there.

Henderson was faced with a 40 minute trip to work.

Sandilands backed up Davis’ belief of hitting number one at the launch event this morning but claimed his show would be in top place by 2014’s second audit survey.

Davis’ refusal to buy drive show presenter Tim “Rosso” Ross a camel when his Drive time show hit number one also had Rosso believing the CEO is confident they’ll make the top.

With Sandilands confident listeners will follow them over from 2DayFM he claims the new breakfast show at 2DayFM will be a “disaster”.

ARN announced Kyle and Jackie O were joining its team last November, with Davis claiming “now with Kyle and Jackie on 1065 and Jonesy and Amanda on WSFM, we have the two best breakfast shows in Sydney”.

Kyle and Jackie O’s former, Southern Cross Austero is replacing the duo with the personalities of Jules Lund, Sophie Monk, Merrick Watts and Mel B.

The four-some have been on air since last week, with some industry commentators claiming the show has been unconvincing.
