For the fifth consecutive year, smoothfm’s Top 500 Countdown will highlight the most popular songs from the last 12 months, culminating with the number one song on Thursday 26 January, as listeners celebrate Australia Day.

smoothfm has enlisted much-loved celebrities including Australian icon Olivia Newton John, the much-adored Dolly Parton and international superstar Michael Bublé along with John Farnham, John Paul Young, Ray Meagher and The Wiggles to count down this year’s smoothfm favourites.

Grammy award winning Barry Gibb has the top job of counting down the all-important Top 10 on Australia Day, with the number one song announced late on Thursday afternoon.

Georgie Page, smoothfm’s Program Director said, “smoothfm listeners are passionate about music so we are delighted to have the opportunity to play 500 of their smooth favourites and create the ultimate soundtrack for their Australia Day celebrations.”

Last year Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline took out the top spot with Whitney Houston I Will Always Love You in 2015 and Louis Armstrong What a Wonderful World number one in 2014.
