News DNA’s whimn.com.au Teams Up With Screen Australia To Launch Doco Series

News Digital Networks Australia’s (News DNA’s) whimn.com.au has launched an original social media-friendly documentary series in collaboration with Screen Australia designed to make the viewer ‘do a 180’ on a topic relevant to Australian women in 180 seconds.

Doco180 features five emerging filmmakers who share their unique stories, all with one objective: to change your mind.

The series will go live weekly on whimn.com.au and its social channels from today. It will be supported with analysis and discussion around the topics on whimn.com.au and the platform’s social media channels.

Melissa Overman, general manager of WHIMN, said: “This is a digital social video series with purpose, and I’m incredibly proud to share them with the whimn.com.au audience.

“There are so many topics and issues that are important to women today, and we’re pleased to showcase these incredible female storytellers.

“When the pitches first came in, we were blown away by how insightful and compelling they were and the finished docos over deliver on their original promise. We also really look forward to seeing the conversations these videos start.

“This is the first of many initiatives whimn.com.au has coming up to highlight women’s stories and give women’s voices a platform. We are committed to providing unique, innovative and engaging digital video content for our audiences.

“We also aim to extend this creative working relationship with the female filmmakers and engage them in further video projects for our women’s network, as we’re confident their tone and style will resonate with our audience.”

Liz Stevens, senior manager of documentary at Screen Australia, said: “Documentary is enjoying a renaissance at the moment, as audiences seek out authentic and well-crafted true stories.

Doco180 is a premium, snack-sized documentary offering to whimn.com.au’s audience and the creators have delivered distinctive tales that are impressive.

“We hope Australian women enjoy the Doco180 slate as much as we enjoyed supporting the emerging filmmakers who created them.”
