In light of whistleblower Edward Snowden joining Twitter, American news channel HLN was conducting an interview on the matter, asking the interviewee Jon Hendren, who is a Snowden supporter, for his opinion.

However what went completely over the anchor’s head, Hendren, who goes by @fart on Twitter, started defending Edward Scissorhands instead of Edward Snowden.

In case you don’t know, Edward Scissorhands is an animated human being created by scientist Vincent Price. In the 1990 movie he is played by Johnny Depp. He has scissors for hands and tries to find love while being particularly talented in the art of hedge-sculpting.

While discussing whether Snowden should have created a Twitter account, Hendren smoothly moves on to saying society shouldn’t cast him out just for having scissors for hands.

The anchor, completely oblivious, continues her line of questioning.

Watch it all below.

New York Magazine reports however HLN thought it was conducting an interview with Al Jazeera journalist John Hendren, but mistook it for comedian Jon Hendren.
