New Agency Launches With A ‘Straight Up’ Approach To PR

A new public relations agency has launched promising a more honest, transparent and ‘straight up’ approach to PR.

Founded by Hannah Furness, Straight Up PR is all about understanding people, building and maintaining relationships, cutting the spin and being real.

Straight Up PR specialises in the health and well-being, media and lifestyle industries, and it is through these specialties that it aligns its values.

Founder and Managing Director of Straight Up PR, Hannah Furness said: “There are a lot of people in the PR industry who are often overworked and tired, sometimes clouding their ability to make the right decisions and preventing them from providing the best service for their clients.

“What will define Straight Up PR is its commitment to health and well-being. Not only with the clients we work with, but the culture we create. To me, it’s very important that my staff and I take the time to look after our mind and body, not just for our own personal well-being, but to ensure we can always provide the best advice, ideas and service for our clients.”

Straight Up PR provides tailored PR services with a particular focus on media relations, event management, communications strategy and execution, social media and press office management.

It is launching with foundation clients including Freedom Foods, Cross Board, 31ST:SECOND, Colette Werden, Relauncher, Green Smoothies by Ascension Kitchen, Little Flowers, Lifestyle Advantage, Miracle Minded and UN LTD.

Hannah Furness continued: “What I really want to bring to the market is a special kind of personalised service. To succeed in this industry, relationships are very important and I believe through building and maintaining strong and meaningful relationships with media, influencers and bloggers, our team and our clients, we can truly make a difference.

“Like our clients, Straight Up PR has an entrepreneurial spirit, passion and determination that drives its success. I am so excited to be bringing this fresh approach to market through the official launch of Straight Up PR.”

Hannah Furness has over nine years public relations experience working for PR agencies such as Red Agency, Access PR and Zing. She has delivered successful PR and integrated communications campaigns for some of Australia’s leading brands including Johnson & Johnson, Woolworths, Fairfax Media and Events, Nikon, McAfee and Lion.

See below a snapshot of campaigns Straight Up PR has executed:

Freedom Foods

Straight Up PR played an instrumental role in the launch of Freedom Food’s Good Food Karma Index (www.goodfoodkarmaindex.com.au) in line with the launch of its Active Balance cereal range. Results included engaging spokesperson Maz Compton and executing a breakfast launch at Vicinity Bar and Dining with 10 key media including, Women’s Fitness, Shelly Horton from HealthyMeTV, Take 5, Real Living, Prevention Magazine and Pop Sugar. The PR campaign saw coverage across Channel 9 News nationally and a syndicated News Corp story, garnering over 9Mil OTS (opportunities to see) and over 1Mil in PR Value.

Maxt Sport – Cross Board

Straight Up PR launched the revolutionary Cross Board to market with a media call at Mt Buller where the agency worked with product innovation company Maxt Sports to introduce the Cross Board to 20 significant media and influencers including, Trent ‘Maxi’ Maxwell, Beau Walker, Ch 9: TODAY Show, Fox Sports: Fuel TV, Woman’s Day, Pedestrian.TV, Inside Sport, MAXIM and Gizmodo. With the campaign still in motion, the five minute Ch 9: TODAY Show piece with Sylvia Jeffrey’s, high social media engagement and the extensive Gizmodo review have already resulted in increased traffic to the website www.crossboard.co and a number of Cross Board’s have been purchased before pre-sale.

UN LTD

Hannah Furness has been personally involved with UN LTD (www.unltd.org.au) since the organisation launched in 2006. UN LTD helps harness the power of the industry to undo youth disadvantage for good. Since launch, Straight Up PR has been providing PR and communications support for UN LTD including introducing General Manager Carol Morris and UN LTD to key trade media and providing news relevant to its core pillars whilst highlighting the ways in which others can join the movement; from mentoring (UN LTD MENTOR), workplace giving (UN LTD GIVING) and donating media space (UN LTD MEDIA).
