Monday TV Wrap: Where Have All Of Q&A’s Viewers Gone?

Monday TV Wrap: Where Have All Of Q&A’s Viewers Gone?

It was arguably once the most talked about current affairs program on Australian TV, but it would appear the ABC’s Q&A is fast losing both its influence and its viewers.

The hour-long talkfest has been steadily shedding viewers over the past 12 months and last night pulled a disappointing 383,000 viewers according to the OzTAM numbers.

Elsewhere on telly last night, Ten’s comedy show Have You Been Paying Attention? had an impressive evening with 800,000 people tuning-in, compared with Nine’s returning Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation that could only muster 678,000.

Seven won the night with 27.5 per cent on the back of its 6pm news bulletin (1.06 million) and the steadily improving House Rules (740,000).

Nine was a close second with 25.7 per cent share, its best proving to be its 6pm news bulletin (1.07 million), ACA (884,000), Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation (678,000) and Hot Seat (550,000).

Ten had one of its better nights, pulling 21.5 per cent of last night’s eyeballs. Have You Been Paying Attention? aside, MasterChef (805,000) was its best, while The Project (568,000) continued its erratic ride.

The ABC’s Monday night of current affairs looked like it took a hit across the board. It pulled in 17.9 per cent audience share and its night went thus: ABC News (740,000), 7:30 (601,000), Australian Story (588,000), Four Corners (530,000), Media Watch (511,000), Q&A (383,000) and Think Tank (232,000).

Over at the SBS, it managed 7.3 per cent share, with Elizabeth its top rater with 255,000.
