Monday TV Wrap: The ABC’s ‘Australian Story’ Hands Aunty Third Spot

An emotional Australian Story focusing on the life of Red Symons’ son, Samuel, who passed away from a brain tumour last week at just 27, proved a success for the ABC last night.

The fitting tribute pulled in 717,000, making Australian Story the tenth most watched show of Monday night.

The Block (1.035 million) handed Nine another win, the broadcaster taking home 28.6 per cent of last night’s eyeballs. Seven had to settle for 25.2 per cent and the ABC nabbed third with 20.2 per cent. Ten was relegated to fourth and 19.8 per cent and SBS took 6.1 per cent.

The ABC’s night of current affairs ran thus: 7pm news (787,000), Australian Story (717,000), 7.30 (657,000), Four Corners (632,000), Media Watch (552,000) and Q&A (397,000).

The Block aside, Nine’s standouts were its 6pm news bulletin (915,000), ACA (769,000), Doctor Doctor (642,000) and Hot Seat (465,000).

Seven’s best was its 6pm news bulletin (958,000), followed by Home And Away (618,000), The Chase (599,000), Emergency Call (512,000) and Border Security – Australia’s Front Line (424,000).

Ten’s Survivor (793,000) had a good night, while Have You Been Paying Attention? (731,000) and The Project (549,000) were its other standouts.

SBS’s best was Britain’s Most Historic Towns that pulled in 252,000.
