Mnet Develops Mobile App For Victorian Election

Mobile solutions business Mnet has created an immersive and interactive app for voters in this month’s Victorian State election, allowing people to have the affairs of the day in the palm of their hand.

The Vote Victoria app was commissioned by The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) and is believed to be the most comprehensive app ever launched for electoral purposes.

Vote Victoria is a comprehensive guide to the State election and is a content-rich destination for smartphone users in the build up to November 29, also delivering results as they happen on election night.

Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately said: “Vote Victoria really serves as a gateway to the electoral process as a whole.”

Available for both iPhones and Android devices, Vote Victoria will provide Victorian voters with a personalised service, with voting reminders and links to their candidates’ information. It will also have inbuilt GPS location features to make finding their district voting centres easier on the day.

In results mode, the app will monitor the counting of the votes live from 6.00 pm on election night.

Travis Johnson, CEO of Mnet, said: “The team reached a good balance between the information objectives required and our knowledge of the experiences users enjoy in mobile information flow. The result is a powerful, personalised App that directs you to what you most need to know at a glance while also providing deeper links for further exploration.”

Vote Victoria is now available free in the iTunes and Google Play stores.
