Michelle Guthrie Paid $800K Termination Payout, But Set To Sue For More

It has been revealed that sacked ABC managing director Michelle Guthrie was paid $800,000 when she was terminated from the public broadcaster back in September.

The payout was part of her contractual entitlements after she was dismissed halfway through her term, however, it hasn’t stopped Guthrie continuing with her attempts to sue for wrongful dismissal.

At the time of her sacking, Guthrie confirmed she was considering her legal options and had lodged a case with the Fair Work Commission.

Days after her dismissal, ABC chairman Justin Milne resigned in the face of allegations he’d asked the federal government to sack Guthrie and claims of political interference.

Guthrie has since made claims of inappropriate touching by Milne in a Sydney restaurant, an allegation that has not been substantiated.

Both Guthrie and Milne have been invited to appear at a Senate ABC inquiry on Friday into the sacking and alleged political interference, however, it’s unclear if either will attend.
