Melbourne Overtakes Sydney As Most Engaged With Brand On Twitter This Christmas

Melbournians are whipping out their smartphone to get a bit of the Christmas action on Twitter, with the latest Twitter brand index for the silly season showing accounts @Melbourne and @Thats_Melbourne coming in first and second place as the most engaged.

Last week Sydney account @Sydney_Sider was in second place but has dropped down to third since @Melbourne – Tourism Melbourne’s account – upped its game.

The city of Melbourne’s account – @Thats_Melbourne – maintained its first place status, which last week was due to the brand’s nostalgic tweets about festive old parts of Melbourne. The Twitter handle for Doctor Who is a surprise newcomer into the Christmas engagement mix.

And Playstation got into the thick of it as well. Sony Pictures, ANZ Stadium and Australia Post have been kicked out of the top five.

The first brand index for the final week of November 2015 saw a tweet from new Christmas movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, Joy, as the most retweeted tweet for the week. And Joy has taken out the most retweeted tweet again for this week.

The brand index comes out each week so there’s still time to get your twitter Christmas hat on and start shooting out some well-placed tweets.
