The last year has been one of incredible triumph and tenacity for Rebecca Tos. Under her leadership as managing director of Columbus, the agency strategically diversified its offering, was awarded B&T Specialist Agency of the Year 2015, recorded 60+ first to market initiatives, as well as four global firsts, all while rebranding and repositioning Columbus in market.

As part of DAN’s regional expansion strategy, Columbus was selected amongst many reputable global brands to launch regionally in Asia. Under Bec’s strategic guidance, a core team of executives are now in market in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, with plans to launch in India imminently.

With Bec’s guidance, Columbus has won $35 million in new business in the past 12 months across a range of industries.

As the first female CEO on the Dentsu Aegis ANZ leadership team, Bec is tasked with building the DAN brand and driving Columbus’ local and regional growth, after being selected from many global brands to launch regionally in Asia.

Her professional success was paralleled in her personal life when in December 2015, Bec and her husband Pete welcomed their first child, Mahli Rose, after a seven-year battle with infertility.

Following four months of maternity leave, Bec returned to work, where DAN CEO, Simon Ryan, promoted her to the newly created role of chief marketing officer of the Dentsu Aegis Network as well as Columbus Agency CEO.

Always challenging the status quo, Bec has an uncommon family structure. Pete is a stay at home dad and Bec is the breadwinner of their family. Seeing this as no obstacle, Bec says, “How your family works, should never dictate your career goals or your ability to achieve them”.

Bec has built a reputation in the Australian market as a visionary and talented business leader, and has no plans of slowing down.

On her win, Tos said, “I’m incredibly grateful and humbled by these awards, especially given the impressive women I was in company with. I’ll continue to be vocal about diversity and women returning to work and I hope my story inspires others to dream big and believe anything is possible.”
