MediaMath Makes New Hires For Sydney Office

Ad tech company MediaMath today announced the appointment of David Benjafield to the role of director of platform solutions, ANZ and Sohail Khan as director of platform integrations, ANZ. The move consolidates MediaMath’s current strong performance in the region, with the company developing a solid local base of business and technical expertise.

As the director of platform solutions, Benjafield (pictured above) will be leading client engagement across the ANZ markets, along with Ilda Jamison who joined MediaMath as the commercial director last year. Benjafield joins MediaMath after a long and storied career at Yahoo7, where he was most recently the head of advertising technology and platform operations. Most of his career at Yahoo7 was spent enabling revenue opportunities and developing a cohesive advertising ecosystem from a combination of proprietary and third party platforms across native, video and display advertising.

“I started my media career trafficking tags, and moved into developing publisher lead Rich Media formats while working towards the adoption and integration of programmatic technologies into Yahoo7’s tech stack. Working with a leading programmatic marketing company such as MediaMath was a logical next step, and I am excited to be here to help further grow the company’s expertise in ANZ,” said Benjafield.

The other appointment, of Sohail Khan, is in the professional services team that MediaMath has been building across the region. Sohail will be helping MediaMath’s clients leverage the TerminalOne platform better, by building custom tools, workflows and other technical services like data onboarding and API consulting. Sohail, with a Masters Degree from UNSW, was overseeing the professional services team at Marin Software prior to this, where he led multiple global initiatives, including publisher connection tools and global agency dashboards.

“My experience and passion is around using first and third party data to set up sophisticated bidding models and near real-time reporting tools, and I take pride in being up-to-date with cutting-edge developments in software and cloud infrastructure. MediaMath has a long history of developing API-based custom platforms for its clients, so it was a natural destination for me,” said Khan.

Geoffrey King, vice president, platform solutions, APAC, MediaMath said, “David brings a wealth of relevant experience to this role, and is a well-respected industry insider who has worked his way up and experienced the rise of digital advertising from very close quarters. Similarly, Sohail brings tremendous regional expertise to MediaMath, including an intimate knowledge of many diverse business models and the relationships between agencies and consultants in optimising campaigns.

“Both roles will be crucial to MediaMath in ANZ as we continue to strengthen our local presence and take advantage of the maturing market. Through these hires, we continue to establish MediaMath as the leading programmatic marketing company in the region.”
