Luna Park Sydney Appoints Tourism Manager

Luna Park Sydney Appoints Tourism Manager

Sydney’s Luna Park is set to expand its appeal to both business and leisure tourism markets with the appointment of seasoned tourism professional, Mark Taylor, to the newly created role of tourism manager.

Taylor, who most recently managed visitor centres in The Rocks and Darling Harbour, will focus on expanding the profile of Luna Park Sydney in the local and international tourism markets as an amusement, restaurant, functions and meeting venue destination for visitors to Sydney.

Taylor has over 20 years experience in Australian tourism, with previous roles including Managing Director at Inbound Tour Operator Pacific Spirit Travel as well as holding senior sales positions with Accor and Thrifty Car Rentals.

Taylor will aim to build domestic and international partnerships and look to increase knowledge of Luna Park’s brand. We will look to position the entertainment precinct, and its unbeatable Sydney Harbour location, as a must visit tourism destination. The role will also see Luna Park collaborate with tourism providers on special events, and the implementation of effective communication strategies with tourism operators.

“I am delighted to be working with the Luna Park team! The Park has been a Sydney icon that so many locals have grown up with and it is exciting to be able to share the Park’s story with the rest of the world,” said Taylor.

“I look forward to letting the International market know about this great entertainment precinct that is so close to the heart of Sydney and one that enjoys such amazing views over the harbor. We now have the opportunity to share this positive message locally and internationally within the tourism space, which is a great opportunity.”

Hosting an array of events across a selection of versatile venues including the award winning Ferris Wheel Dining at The Deck, Halloscream at Luna Park Sydney, cocktail parties, weddings, The Big Top and an exclusive Harbour Party on New Year’s Eve – the park is very much looking forward to tapping into the previously unexplored tourism market.

With the pending opening of Sydney’s International Convention Centre, Luna Park’s Director Warwick Doughty, said the Park was certainly looking to capitalize on Australia’s more than $13billion business events and tourism industry, attracting a strong share of the market to its already healthy portfolio of meetings, conventions and events.

“Luna Park has had great success in drawing international and national events and visitors to date, and it is crucial for our future to continue developing relationships and increase awareness of what we do and how well we do it,” said Doughty.

Luna Park Sydney’s iconic face, amusement rides, stunning waterfront location, exceptional staff and amenities have collectively cultivated an acclaimed global reputation. Today, it enjoys recognition, not only as amusement park, but as a fully-fledged, entertainment and function centre boasting 13 stunning multi-venue spaces, year-round exhibitions, corporate events, weddings, concerts, charity galas and bespoke events that cater from 30 to 7,000 guests.
