Lexus Releases Footage Of Its Super Cool Hoverboard

Lexus has revealed footage of an actual hoverboard in action during a demonstration at a specially constructed skate park in Barcelona.

Back in June the brand teased us with a video of the hoverboard, however it had many sceptical as to whether the futuristic mode of transport was actually real.

The Lexus Hoverboard operates using magnetic levitation to achieve amazing frictionless movement. The board uses liquid nitrogen cooled superconductors and permanent magnets.

The hoverpark was constructed using around 200 metres of magnetic track set beneath the surface of an area similar to a conventional skate park.

Pro-skateboard star Ross McGouran- who normally skates for Vans, Element, Perus and SkatePharmacy—tested out the skateboard. He said: “I’ve spent 20 years skateboarding, but without friction it feels like I’ve had to learn a whole new skill, particularly in the stance and balance you need to ride the hoverboard.”

“At Lexus, we constantly challenge ourselves and our partners to push the boundaries of what is possible,” said Mark Templin, executive vice president, Lexus International said in a press release.

“That determination, combined with our passion and expertise for design and innovation, is what led us to take on the Hoverboard project. It’s the perfect example of the amazing things that can be achieved when you combine technology, design and imagination.”

Unfortunately your Back To The Future fantasies will be crushed as this is just a marketing stunt, Lexus has no intention of producing these hoverboards commercially.
