Kyle and Jackie O have played a prank on their in-house censor Vanda. The radio duo swore like drunken sailors on a dummy tape broadcast to only poor Vanda. ACMA reviewed the tape and said the ACMA equivalent of “meh”.

The KIIS FM website said: “We pranked our ‘Show Censor’ Vanda in Kyle & Jackie O… while she was on the rooftop, we locked her out and played a fake recording of the show…!”

Kyle and Jackie O’s audience were encouraged to go to the KIIS website and watch the prank unfold. The prank was not broadcast on air, but was widely promoted and available on Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) social media channels.

A spokesperson from ARN told a News Corp publication: “Today’s in-team prank was simply a fun piece of online video content before the team all head off for their survey break. It’s the kind of tongue-in-cheek segment that fans of KIIS 1065 appreciate, that worked well visually online.”

Radio industry websites, Radio Info, asked ACMA if it had an opinion on the online prank. A spokesperson told Radio Info: the broadcasting codes are not applicable to online content”.

ACMA is still investigating the radio duo for their interview with federal minister Barnaby Joyce. The interview after the whole Johnny Depp’s dogs saga included such classy moments as Sandiland’s calling Joyce a “wanker”, a “gerbil” and a “disgrace”.
