Journalist Survives After Being Crushed By Falling Tree During Live Broadcast
A BBC journalist reporting on the hurricane situation in Hawaii over the weekend has had his broadcast interrupted by a falling tree, and lived to tell the tale.
BBC North America correspondent James Cook was updating UK listeners on Hurricane Lane’s movement, when all of a sudden he went silent as the sound of a tree cracking and falling took over the airwaves.
It quickly became evident that Cook had been struck by the tree, with the reporter letting out a painful groan amongst the rustling of leaves, before reassuring his production crew he was okay, and recovering brilliantly to tell listeners, “Well, that was unexpected.”
