John Farnham And Olivia Newton-John Join Smoothfm

John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John are the latest big names to join the smoothfm all-star weekend line-up. The duo will host their own show on smoothfm this Sunday 18 December and Sunday 25 December (Christmas Day) and will be part of smoothfm’s Australia Day Top 500 Countdown on Thursday 26 January.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect, with the multi-ARIA Award Winners recently releasing a brand new album Friends For Christmas, following their last collaborative album Two Strong Hearts which reached #1 on the ARIA chart.

The album is a collection of Farnham and Newton-John’s favourite Christmas songs and includes classics such as ‘Let It Snow’, ‘Have Yourself A Merry Christmas’ and ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’.

Peter Clay, smoothfm program director said, “Having two Australian-icons join forces on smoothfm is incredible. The chemistry between John and Olivia will be something special for our listeners and we can’t wait for them to play some of their favourite songs and share their stories.”

This is Farnham’s first time hosting a show on smoothfm and he is excited to have the opportunity to connect directly with smoothfm listeners.

He said, “When we are working and doing our shows, we never really get to connect with the audience on a one-on-one basis. So it’s nice to be able to talk to people and hear what they think,” he said.

Farnham and Newton-John will entertain smoothfm listeners and bring some Christmas cheer, with Newton-John particularly excited to be sharing songs from their new album on Christmas Day.

She said, “I think it’s a perfect day for us to be on-air because John Farnham and I have recorded this very beautiful Christmas record and we hope that people are getting to hear the tracks and have a wonderful Christmas Day.”

John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John can be heard on smoothfm 95.3 Sydney, smoothfm 91.5 Melbourne and on smoothfm DAB+ on Sunday 18 December 4pm – 5pm, Sunday 25 December 1pm-3pm and then will return on 26 January for smoothfm’s Australia Day Top 500 Countdown.
