What’s your backstory? (The non-LinkedIn one)

Hans Hulsbosch was born in Valkenswaard in The Netherlands. As a young boy he was always drawing pictures. Every year at primary school he won Best Illustrator of the Year and it soon became obvious he would make a career in design.

He first worked in packaging design for Willem II in the late 1960s and early 1970s before moving to Amsterdam where he worked for the design group Ten Cate Bergmans. He and his wife moved to Wellington, New Zealand in 1975 where Hans worked for several advertising agencies. In 1979 he moved to Sydney, Australia and worked as creative director for advertising agency Clemenger BBDO. He opened his own brand and design agency, ‘HULSBOSCH’ in Sydney in 1982.

Woolworths.

What’s been your most challenging career moment?

Resigning the agency’s largest client and refocus the business.

What piece of advice you’d give your younger self?

Don’t listen to my older self.

What’s one thing not many know about you?

Boxing is my favourite sport.

What’s your quirkiest attribute?

My Dutch heritage/nature elevates direct communication.
