Hilariously Ugly 90s Websites Eternalised In New National Library Of Australia Archive

Ah, the 90s. The glorious decade of Bill Clinton, the Olsen twins, Pulp Fiction, Britney Spears, plaid shirts and ripped jeans … the list goes on.

It was also the decade for hilariously ugly websites, it appears.

The National Library of Australia has been keeping tabs on how Aussie websites have evolved, snapshotting and archiving websites ending in “.au” since 1996.

The archive, which came online just this month, has shown us just how bad (entertainingly so), the internet was during its infant years.
