Helen Demetriou Appointed News Corp’s General Manager For Travel

News Corp has announced experienced travel industry executive, Helen Demetriou, has been appointed to the newly created position of general manager, travel in the company’s commercial sales team.

Jason Scott, managing director of News Corp Australia in Queensland and responsible for News Corp’s travel category said: “In this new role Helen will be responsible for our plans to expand our travel audience, and enhance our value proposition for marketing partners. This new role will further strengthen our leading position in travel through escape.com.au.

“Tourism forecasts for 2026-27 are expected to reach more than $97 billion domestically, increasing at an annual growth rate of 1.9 per cent, and outbound trips will reach 14.8 million at an annual growth rate of 3.9 per cent.

“We aim to tap into this growing travel and tourism market, and leverage our extensive network of multi-channel products, to deliver the best domestic and international travel news experience from a consumer and advertiser perspective,” Scott said.

Demetriou has more than 20 years’ experience in the travel and tourism sectors, having worked for the Wotif and Expedia Group, travel.com.au and lastminute.com.au, Flight Centre, and more recently, the TravelEdge Group as Head of Account Management and Supplier Relations.

Soctt added: “With a strong background in sales management, brand marketing, and customer acquisition, Helen has been at the forefront of major changes in the travel industry and is passionate about delivering innovative travel products to customers and partners.
