After a two year hiatus the ABC is set to re-launch the Gruen franchise on September 9th at 8:30pm.
The show last re-imagining Gruen Nation aired in September and October 2013 looking at the spin behind the Federal election before becoming Gruen Planet for the rest of its run. It’s now being relaunched as Gruen dissecting the spin of a topical story that has made headlines either in Australia or overseas.
Wil Anderson will continue as host, and Australia’s favourite advertising execs – Todd Sampson and Russell Howcroft will remain. Howcroft was the first guest-editor for the new B&T when we relaunched early last year.
Classic segments will return, such as ‘The Pitch’, where some of Australia’s most creative agencies attempt to complete an impossible brief.
Jon Casimir, ABC TV head of entertainment said:“After the show took a well-earned break in 2014, we’re seriously excited to have Wil and Gruen back, lifting the lid on advertising, spin and marketing, examining how we are sold to, and how we are sold.”
Wil Anderson, host and executive Producer said:“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with the amazing team at CJZ on a new series of Gruen. And I’m even more grateful they didn’t replace me with Adam Hills.”
