Freeview Plus is a hybrid digital TV service that provides access to catch-up free-to-air programming.

There are around 2.2 million TV receivers in Australia that are Freeview Plus-enabled, with an 85 per cent connection rate.

The updated service will also incorporate new brand architecture for the Freeview brand, which was revealed today.

Developed by March One, the refreshed branding includes a new logo and the tagline ‘Even better than free’.

The upgraded platform will join the world-first and award-winning Freeview FV mobile app in Freeview’s suite of products designed to make watching free-to-air TV more convenient and flexible than ever before.

Freeview CEO Liz Ross said: “Australians are now watching more than one billion minutes of catch-up TV every month*. Freeview is at the forefront of broadcast technology globally, and this upgrade will ensure we continue to offer the very best catch-up viewing experience.

“This time 10 years ago, Australian viewers only had access to five free-to-air channels, whereas today we have more than 25. TV is everywhere and any time, and with catch-up services supplementing traditional TV viewing, we have certainly entered the golden era of TV.”
