Fairfax execs to depart

Reports have emerged from News Corp's publication The Australian about senior executives of Fairfax Media departing from roles. B&T have contacted Fairfax and are awaiting reply.

The Australian can reveal News Media executive editor Glenn Burge has taken a redundancy and will leave Fairfax next month, while News Media director Garry Linnell will move full time into his radio role at 2UE.

The pair had been doing most of the heavy lifting in implementing Fairfax redundancies, cost initiatives and newsroom restructure.

It is well known within Fairfax that Linnell’s decision to focus on his breakfast show full time comes after he clashed with Australian Publishing Media’s managing director Allen Williams.

Burge has been with Fairfax for 29 years, including 10 years as editor of The Australian Financial Review, where he was also responsible for Smart Investor, BRW and all other AFR titles.
