Facebook & Instagram Go Down & Furious Aussies Are Calling The Cops To Complain

It appears Aussies have a proclivity to call the cops when things aren’t going in their favour, with reports that social media users are calling the police after Instagram and Facebook went down this morning.

Yesterday, B&T reported that The Voice audience members decided to call the cops after the doors and exits were allegedly blocked during a live filming.

Today, we’re reporting that Aussies are once again calling their local authorities due to a social media outage, which is affecting users globally.

Technophiles of the world woke up this morning unable to access Facebook or Instagram, although it appears Twitter has not been affected by the tech outage.

According to DownDetector, it looks like the outages are mainly in New England; Texas; Seattle, Washington; parts of Latin America, including Peru; the UK; India; and the Philippines.

However, a few disgruntled B&T journos can confirm that outage has hit Down Under too.

Sunrise sent out a tweet this morning, urging the public to stop calling triple zero to complain.

Instagram and Facebook also took to Twitter to say they’re doing everything they can to resolve the issue.

Some social media users suggested the outage was due to a DDoS (a distributed denial-of-service) attack, which Facebook denied, tweeting: “We’re focused on working to resolve the issues as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack”.Screen Shot 2019-03-14 at 10.34.54 am

While users can still open both platforms with some services appearing to have been restored, others are reporting issues with sending messages on Messenger, posting on Facebook and accessing other features on Instagram, as well as WhatsApp.

The social media outage comes off the back of yesterday’s tech news where Gmail and Google Drive users reported experiencing outages around the world.

However, it appears Gmail and Google Drive are back up and running.

At the time of publishing, the global Facebook and Instagram outage has still not been resolved for all users.
