Daily Mail Editor Luke McIlveen Buries Hatchet To Return To News Corp

Daily Mail Australia editor-in-chief Luke McIlveen has quit his post and will return to News Corp where he famously exited amid a legal dispute in 2013.

According to reports on News Corp websites today, McIlveen will take up the new role of executive editor at the News-owned Fox Sports.

In 2013, McIlveen was the editor of News.com.au, the most read news website in Australia. However, he was poached to be the launch editor of the Daily Mail Australia that was then part owned by Channel Nine.

News was apparently furious at McIlveen’s defection and took him and the Daily Mail to the NSW Supreme Court and cited that McIlveen had not given the necessary resignation considering he was leaving to launch a site that would be a direct competitor to News.com.au. The matter was later settled out of court.
