Visual comms company Getty Images and Cricket Australia have announced a strategic two-year partnership to create one of the most significant collections of cricket imagery available today.

Under the agreement, Getty Images will now serve as the official global photography partner of Cricket Australia and will exclusively represent, license and distribute all Cricket Australia imagery for commercial uses worldwide.

As part of this partnership, Getty Images is launching the Cricket Australia Collection – a newly created library of images encapsulating dynamic on-field action shots and unique behind the scenes photos. Getty Images’ team of award-winning sports photographers will capture Australian cricket’s defining moments; including international, domestic, BBL, underage, indoor, men’s and women’s cricket matches plus Australian Cricket initiatives and events such as the Allan Border Medal, the Bradman Oration and Imparja Cup.

“Getty Images is proud to partner with Cricket Australia, to capture and curate a unique collection of imagery that truly captures the spirit of Australia’s favourite pastime,” said Stuart Hannagan vice president of editorial imagery, APAC, at Getty Images. “This partnership not only represents an important step in the growth of our local sports portfolio that already includes partnerships with the ARU, NZRU and FFA, it re-affirms our ongoing commitment as a partner to the Australian sports industry.”

“Photography is a very important way of connecting with Australian cricket lovers and it forms a key part of how the story of Australian cricket is told, whether that is through editorial media coverage or the various digital platforms that our fans are now using,” said Ben Amarfio, executive general manager of media, communications and marketing for Cricket Australia. “The ongoing partnership between Cricket Australia and Getty Images is another demonstration of how we are putting fans first by extensively recording the wonderful imagery of our game.”

Through this ground-breaking agreement, Cricket Australia promoters, sponsors and suppliers will benefit from agreed rights and access to Getty Images cricket content for use in the promotion of their sponsored events. The partnership also ensures Australian and overseas media can continue to access significant editorial coverage via Getty Images as well as more unique and specialised imagery via the Cricket Australia Collection.
