Contestant Blows $50,000 After Mistaking Obama & Bin Laden In Epic Quiz Show Fail

An unfortunate contestant on a US game show is $US50,000 poorer and the butt of social media jokes after he mistook former president Barack Obama for infamous global terrorist Osama Bin Laden.

Competing on the game show The $100,000 Pyramid, new father Evan Kaufman was posed the question: “People Whose Last Name is Obama’. He could’ve said Barack or even Michelle, but unfortunately chose the former Taliban supremo.

For his part, Kaufman later explained that his new parenting responsibilities had left him exhausted and unable to think straight. Unfortunately, for the new dad, many viewers of the show labelled him as racist for comparing the two. Check out the massive clanger below:

As these things do, social media soon lit up over the incident.

However, Kaufman later defended himself in a series of tweets calling the incident “the most embarrassing moment in his life” and “my son had been born two weeks prior. I am very tired but excited to win money for my family. We play up the whole tired Dad thing.”

All was not lost though, as the hapless contestant still managed to walk away with $US8,500 in prize money.
