Clemenger CEO Nick Garrett: “It’s No Secret We’re Going Through A Period Of Transformation”

Clemenger BBDO CEO Nick Garrett has admitted Clems Sydney is going through a period of transformation following several staff redundancies.

Yesterday, Clems Sydney let go head of creative technology Brendan Foster, an ex-Google creative agency lead who joined the agency in 2014.

In a statement to B&T, Garrett said: “It’s no secret that we’re going through a period of transformation in Sydney.

“We’ve brought in people and new capabilities to help evolve our offer and ensure we’re meeting our clients’ expectations,” he said.

Clemenger Sydney was the incumbent agency for PepsiCo, however, lost the account in May to TBWA/Sydney, having worked with the brand for more than 40 years.

In his statement to B&T, Garrett added: “The hardest part of any transformation is making these tough calls – it’s never easy seeing friends of the agency leave the business.

“I’d like to thank them all for their contributions and wish them the best in their future endeavours.”

It’s not all bad news for Clems Sydney’s staff, however, with the agency hiring both Lavender’s Jade Clark to lead the creative experience division and ex-Grey London’s Lilian Sor as chief strategy officer in July.
