Cate Blanchett ahead in social media

With the Academy Awards only hours away, social media has been buzzing as research from Adobe has found Cate Blanchett is creating the most hype.

Blanchett was nominated for Best Actress for her role in move Blue Jasmine.

Adobe has analysed and examined social media conversations and buzz surrounding the Academy Awards since January 17, looking at worldwide social media mentions for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress.

“The Academy Awards are being announced this morning Australian-time and our research shows that Cate Blanchett certainly has the greatest support on social networks,” Paul Robson, Adobe’s managing director for Australia and New Zealand, said.

According to Robson, Blanchett is well ahead of her other nominees, having been mentioned almost 52,600 times in the last month.

Social buzz results in other categories show nominees with most mentions are:

  • Best Picture: Gravity
  • Best Actor: Leonardo DiCaprio, Wolf of Wall Street
  • Best Director: Steve McQueen, Twelve Years A Slave
  • Best Supporting Actor: Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club
  • Best Supporting Actress: Jennifer Lawrence, American Hustle.
