Burger King To Pay For Mr Burger & Ms King’s Whopper Wedding

Burger King To Pay For Mr Burger & Ms King’s Whopper Wedding

US fast food chain Burger King couldn’t miss the marketing opportunity when two of its customers – Joel Burger and Ashley King – decided to tie the knot.

The Illonois lovebirds, who have been dating for seven years, met in kindergarten and have been called ‘Burger King’ ever since. “We have yet to escape the teasing,” Ashley King said, “but we have fully embraced our nickname.”

The couple’s engagement announcement, including a photo of them posing with the Burger King logo, went viral. Eventually the Burger King company picked up the story and started a Twitter search for the happy couple.

“When we heard about the happy, Burger-King couple, we felt an overwhelming urge to celebrate their upcoming marriage,” said Eric Hirschhorn, Burger King’s brand spokesman. “On so many levels it felt like fate; they found each other and their story found us.”

On Monday Burger King reached out, via Skype, to Joel Burger and Ashley King to propose financing the wedding.

The company will pay for the entire wedding, as well as providing personalised yo-yos, gift bags, personalised mason jars and Burger King crowns to the wedding guests.

“We knew deep in our hearts that we wanted to honor the union of Mr. Burger and Ms. King,” said Hirschhorn. “In an unforgettable way. Everyone at Burger King Brand agreed and, we knew we wanted to create a ‘whopper of a wedding’ that’s uniquely their own.

“And now we hope we’ve swept them off their feet. All we ask in return is that they live happily ever after.”

The Burger-King nuptials will be held July 17 in nearby Jacksonville. So now we just have to wait for Mr Mac and Ms Donalds to meet and fall in love.
