The Packers Prize For B&T Award Entries Goes To CHE Proximity

There were more than 400 submissions for this year’s B&T Awards, but one entry stood above the rest. We had to give props to CHE Proximity for the amazing children’s book The Last Remaining Dinosaurs the team- well, the finance guy Keith- put together.

More than 800 people are expected to attend this year’s awards, which will be held at Sydney Town Hall on Friday 18 November. Get your tickets here.  For the lucky shortlisted finalists in the major categories, the live judging day is this Friday October 14. Don’t mess that up.

For the hotly contested People’s Choice category, head over here.

We chatted with the CHE team about their submission:

IMG_3672

What was the inspiration behind the entry?

As an agency we’re constantly striving to innovate, break stuff, fix stuff and reinvent prehistoric approaches to advertising. So killing dinosaurs with lasers seemed to feel right.

IMG_3681

Why did you submit a child’s book?

Creating an illustrated children’s book softened the blow of actually killing dinosaurs. Also shooting dinosaurs is impossible.

IMG_3695

Why dinosaurs?

They represent the old way of thinking. Duh.

Run us through the thought process for this

  • Guys! We need to create a submission for agency of the year.
  • How do we show that we are the agency of the future?
  • What about we kill dinosaurs?
  • Dinosaurs?
  • Yeah, with lasers.

IMG_3673

When did you start the submission?

A few weeks before the deadline. We gave ourselves just enough time to craft it, which is rare.

IMG_3683

What’s your favourite illustration?

The one where the dinosaur from that big agency dies.

IMG_3674

Credits of the entry- who did what?

Keith from finance mainly.

IMG_3690

Is this theme of ‘the last remaining dinosaurs’ going to carry over to your live judging presentation?

Should we?

IMG_3676

What was the turnaround for this project? How long did it take etc.

A couple of weeks, with a lot of dedicated and talented people working late and hard to get it out the door.
