Australia’s newest player in the PR industry, Broadcast Connections, has officially launched

Created by respected career publicists Jael Napper and Kym Richardson, Broadcast Connections aims to provide journalists with credible news and story opportunities, and communicate their client’s messages in a way that benefits both the client and their media connections.

Jael’s experience extends from Australia (Network Ten, Foxtel, Endemol, Hoodlum and Dreamworld) to the UK where she worked for The Television Consultancy (now TVC Group) as the company’s head of media liaison leading major international campaigns to achieve maximum broadcast coverage across Europe. Her list of accounts included Virgin Airlines, Red Bull Air Race, Accenture, The Independent newspaper, Lloyds TSB, Institute of Chartered Accountants, Edelman, Hill & Knowlton as well as government and entertainment campaigns to name a few.

Kym was PR and Marketing Manager for global satellite TV company Chello Zone, a leading international broadcaster and creator of television channels across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. In Australia Kym has worked with all three commercial TV networks (Network Ten, Seven Network and Nine Network) as well as Dreamworld as their PR & Communications Manager.

Additional to their communications experience, Kym and Jael have both worked in TV and news production allowing them the ability to produce VNR, B-Roll and corporate videos adding a competitive edge to their services.

Having worked with some of Australia’s most esteemed journalists in their field, Jael and Kym will draw on their years of experience to offer strategic campaign coverage across television, radio and digital media as well as operate as a conduit between clients and producers, with full campaign development, production, execution and syndication. They will also be available for sub-contract to PR agencies for production and broadcast coverage of their campaigns.

Jael Napper says: “We have a good understanding of what works and what doesn’t for newsrooms. We see no benefit in taking on clients where there would be few media opportunities, so we’ll only commit to projects that we see will deliver results.

“We do not consider ourselves an agency, as we can operate as in-house personnel with greater accountability for our time than employees, and at a fraction of the cost. We cover all of our expenses and have a mandate to offer a ROI to all who we work with.”

It was during their time working outside of the television industry that Jael and Kym recognised a common occurrence of operators trying to bend the media’s needs to suit their client or campaign, severely affecting the potential traction and end result. They were also amazed to discover how companies often relied on big budgets to pay for their coverage rather than their own abilities to pitch opportunities.

Kym Richardson says: “We’re fortunate to have worked with and learned from some of Australia’s best journalists. Our most valuable asset is our relationship with media, something that we will not compromise. As such we’ll maintain a promise to our clients that our calls will be answered to offer their campaigns the best possible opportunity of achieving maximum audience reach.”

In addition to servicing direct client needs, Broadcast Connections will continue to remain active in the media industry through Unit Publicity and television production to ensure that the business is always on the pulse with emerging media needs.

With proven results in achieving positive exposure on broadcast, Jael and Kym’s relationship skills and nous for creating good TV and digital opportunities has led them on this exciting new venture to start Broadcast Connections.
