The Big Smoke Partners With Opinion Platform Squerb

Part of the By A Wall series.

The Big Smoke is pleased to announce a new partnership with Squerb, a unique visual opinion engagement platform. The joint venture between the businesses aims to positively impact the digital space by systemising what people want to connect with online.

Launched in Australia in 2013 and in America during 2015, The Big Smoke is one of Australia’s leading opinion sites, publishing over 350 contributors from all walks of life, including household names, politicians, influencers, everyday Australians, and now Americans.

Squerb is an emerging opinion platform with a unique way for users to express their feelings and opinions on any topic in a simple, real-time manner.

Users map their feelings on a fun visual field of intelligence and emotion, enabling audiences of any size to instantly rank topics or content while offering deep insight based on how they feel about the topics.

The Big Smoke network is comprised of contributors, an engaged nation-wide audience, SME’s and innovative brands. The Big Smoke hopes the Squerb partnership will enable them to gain a better understanding of each cluster within its network and how they connect together to drive a greater vehicle.

The partnership will also aim to strengthen and build a more strategic understanding of what works and what doesn’t for publishers navigating the digital space.

Founder and publisher of The Big Smoke, Alexandra Tselios said, “We really want to understand digital activities fuelled by intent on a much deeper and more nuanced level. I see a real opportunity to provide greater value to our audience and our commercial alignments by having this partnership with Squerb.

“The tools used by many publishers trying to navigate the digital space are obviously becoming more redundant so we wanted to gain a stronger and more strategic idea of what works and what doesn’t. Squerb allows us to do this in a way that forms an understanding of the climate we operate and what actions to take.”

Founder of Squerb, Chris Biscoe added, “We’re proud to add our technology to The Big Smoke’s unique and intelligent publishing platform. We really resonated with the content and approach of The Big Smoke and are excited about the opportunity to connect their thoughtful user base into a unique and powerful new way to understand our opinions.”

Editor of The Big Smoke, Mathew Mackie also said, “I really care about what our audience will respond to and what they are indifferent to and you cannot tell that from a ‘like’ or ’share’. I want to know what makes our audience tick so I’m delighted with our joint venture with Squerb. It will give us a deeper insight into those who support The Big Smoke, and in turn, make us better as a platform and opinion leader.”
