The Big Smoke Announces US Expansion Following Continued Success

Due to the continued success of Australian opinion site, The Big Smoke, the publisher has announced its commercial expansion into the United States this week.

The Big Smoke US has already signed on writers from all walks of life, including a Republican Stock Broker, an Emmy Award winning TV personality, punk poets and a Purple Heart Iraq war Veteran.

Founder and publisher, Alexandra Tselios, launched the media company in November 2013 and has since published pieces by influencers such as Julian Burnside, Anthony Albanese and Maggie Beer to erudite interesting unique Australians across the country seeing consistent growth in audience numbers.

“The Big Smoke’s primary focus has been on publishing valuable, edgy content for and by our readers ultimately showcasing the interesting, quirky and intelligent people that make up the fabric of this country,” Tselios said.

“The United States is a melting pot of opinions, ideas and insight that we cannot wait to uncover and talk about.”

The Big Smoke has successfully built a platform for readers looking to engage with dynamic, influential and emerging writers and brands while Alexandra Tselios discusses the content they produce on AM/FM radio most days of the week Australia-wide.

Leading the US writers will be editor-in-chief, Greg Gerding, a notable Portland, Oregon based indie-press publisher and author of seven books.

“I loved the idea that an influential content site is now showcasing opinions of real Americans. TheBigSmoke.com is going to be a game-changer and truly democratise our stymied media landscape; we simply have nothing quite like this here” Gerding said.

Tselios and Gerding are looking forward to uncovering writers who exude boldness, sassiness and the ability to think critically through their opinion pieces. With these steps towards global expansion, The Big Smoke is set to move into an innovative period of commercial growth in the coming year.
