BBC Confirms Chris Evans As New Top Gear Presenter

The guessing game of who will replace the Top Gear guys has kept the Internet on its toes since the infamous sacking of presenter Jeremy Clarkson after punching a producer.

And now the BBC has confirmed British TV and radio personality Chris Evans will replace Clarkson on the automobile show.

Evans, who is a friend of Clarkson’s, had previously said he wasn’t interested in the job, and yet as the news broke he tweeted out his first tweet as the new Top Gear presenter.

In a statement about his appointment, Evans was beside himself as the show is his “favourite programme of all time”.

“I promise I will do everything I possibly can to respect what has gone on before and take the show forward,” he said.

There’d been much speculation as to who would take the helm of the hugely popular car show. And with reports surfacing at the end of March that Clarkson’s other two co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond probably won’t renew their contracts with the progamme, the BBC has been on the hunt for new hosts.

Clarkson was sacked in March this year following what famously became known as a “fracas” with a BBC producer.

Rumours have circulated around web about the trio’s replacement, with The Telegraph in the UK reporting in early May Life on Mars star Philip Glenister and Channel 4 presenter Guy Martin had been approached.
