The Australian Radio Network (ARN) and Universal Music Australia (UMA) will release two compilation albums in October as part of a new commercial partnership.

The first album release Friday October 3 will focus on one of ARN’s flagship brands Pure Gold, with popular urban station The Edge releasing an album hot on its heels on October 10.

We’re thrilled to be partnering with Universal and have the opportunity to showcase their talented pool of artists with this collaboration. Listeners of both the Pure Gold network and The Edge are keen music lovers, so we’re really excited to now be able to offer our audiences the chance to have an album packed with their favourite hits from their favourite stations,” said Duncan Campbell, ARN’s national content director.

This is the first time UMA has worked together with ARN to release this style of compilation albums, and these two releases are the result of a successful working relationship with the network’s strategic marketing division.

“We’re excited to be joining forces with fellow market leaders ARN. Though the Pure Gold Network and The Edge 96.ONE station have distinct musical directions that are very different from each other, our wide variety of talent at Universal means that whether it’s hot, new talent or seasoned performers, we have the music that listeners love. This breadth of scope in reaching music fans of all ages is the perfect fit for ARN and Universal and I’m looking forward to us working together on what we feel will be a really successful collaboration,” says Darren Aboud, joint managing director Universal Music Australia.

The Classic Hits Pure Gold Network broadcasts around Australia on WS FM101.7 (Sydney), GOLD104.3 (Melbourne), 4KQ693AM (Brisbane) and Cruise1323 (Adelaide). The Edge broadcasts through 96.ONE FM (Sydney) and Edge Digital (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane).

Pure Gold features a selection of key tracks played across The Classic Hits Pure Gold Network across two jam packed CDs. There’s KISS, Cold Chisel, Queen, Elton John, The Jacksons, Crowded House, Blondie, Cyndi Lauper, Huey Lewis & The News, Spandau Ballet, ABBA, Billy Idol, The Angels and much more.

The Edge features a selection of songs played across the network of the same name across the genres of Hip Hop, R&B, Dirty Pop and dance, with cutting edge tracks from some of the hottest artists in the game, mixed by The Edge’s favourite DJs.
